Assessment of migrant deal with Turkey continues, EU says.
Does one get the impression that the EU Commission lacks the courage to deal with Erdogan?

Moreover, the EU Commission seems quite desperate these days, frantically trying to establish some type of relevancy. Even they sense the EU’s loss of respect across Europe.

* Is the EU looking to self-destruct or to initiate a mass rebellion across Europe? That’s exactly what visa liberalization and a customs union with Turkey would unleash, especially any visa-free travel for Turks.

The EU has allowed itself to be blackmailed by Erdogan for far too long…appeasement never works. Instead, Greece has shown the way by denying entry at the border. Erdogan is desperate after his foreign policy disaster in Syria and his latest attempt to flood a Greece. The EU holds much economic leverage over Turkey (a whopping 50% of its exports are to the EU) and they need to start using it. To reward Turkey with visa-free travel after the antics of Erdogan would be ludicrous in itself; moreover, Europeans want nothing to do with this visa scheme for Erdogan’s Islamic state of Turkey.

– EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell (a socialist from a Spain) informed EU leaders about the “ongoing work” during the virtual summit of EU heads of state and government.

Borell is “in regular phone contact” with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in addition to expert-level discussions, the spokesperson added. Experts? Borrell and Çavuşoğlu?

The EU’s diplomatic service is supposed to deliver a report on the implementation and the future prospects of the 2016 EU-Turkey deal on migration.

Borrell said Monday that the assessment would include topics of visa liberalization and customs union as well, which was equally mentioned in the 2016 agreement.

* The 2016 agreement is dead…but the EU continues its desperate attempt to gain relevancy. Just check out the twitter pages of von der Leyen, the EU Commissioners, Guy Verhofstadt and even the EPP Party. Their tweets resemble a campaign on its last legs, with thinly layered assaults on the credibility of the nation states, while shamelessly trying to pump-up the benefits of EU federalism and the all-powerful super state.

The Project is slowly dying.
