News from the Three Seas Region: Austria’s new conservative ruling coalition is likely to be sworn in on Dec. 20, marking a victory for conservatives at odds with the migration agenda of Brussels.

Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz (OVP) has been in coalition talks with Heinz-Christian Strache’s Freedom Party (FPO). Austria is also a member of the Central European Defence Cooperation (CEDC), a group that combats illegal migration in the region. Overlooked by the media, the CEDC is having a positive impact.

Last month, the V4 Report posted how a potential major catastrophe in Europe was avoided thanks to the joint efforts of Austria and Hungary. A Pakistani man, known as the “Pakistani butcher”, was apprehended among a group of migrants near Hungary’s southern border. Detectives in Austria said that “the butcher” was a professional gunman accused of around 70 contract murders in Pakistan. Apparently, the group of migrants were trying to get to Austria.

This is a reminder that illegal migration from violent regions continues to pose a threat to Europeans. We wonder what steps the European Parliament is taking to protect Europeans?

We believe the new government being formed in Austria will be a positive for both Visegrad and Europe. The Winds of Change are indeed emerging from the CEE nation states.

We wish them the best and look forward to the official announcement soon. Onward!
