Big problem with an “ambitious” EU and increasing its budget….will only increase the power and control of Eurocrats and others proponents of a federal EU.
The bigger the leviathan grows, the harder it will be to resist its ever increasing demands…it will never end.
When will those who campaign based on defending the integrity of the nation state actually support measures to downsize Brussels? In the long run, this drive for an ambitious EU will come back to haunt Central Europe.
Brexit provides a golden opportunity to downsize the powers of Brussels (less money) by prioritizing what is value-added, and eliminating or reducing programs better left to national parliaments. Yes, fight for what you think is vital but do so under the parameters that without U.K., there will be much less to work with. EU is a smaller project now.
No one can force a nation state to accept migrants; likewise, no one can force a sovereign country to contribute more than they wish. There are benefits with investments in other countries for sure, but there are limits and a line that one has to be careful not to cross.
Step by step and year by year, a federal EU is closer…and there’s no better way to get there than by increasing the budget and powers of Brussels.
👉 President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to “fight” for French fishermen in the upcoming Brexit negotiations over access to British waters. Britain’s fishing grounds are among the richest in the zone where a high proportion of the EU catch is hauled in, and regaining control of UK waters is a significant issue for Brexiteers.
France has issues here, so they will try to use the EU to punish the U.K…..so France’s issue becomes Visegrad’s issue. France, Barnier and little Macron are bitter and want to punish the UK, but in the end, this will hurt the V4 much more than France regarding trade. The emerging markets of CEE states cannot make a trade deal without France (EU), despite the fact that they have very different needs and desires. The V4 will be hurt more than France if EU insists on punishing the UK. This type of behavior and groupthink is a complete nonsense. 👇 (explained in earlier post days ago).
The EU Budget Black Hole Means The U.K. Can Ignore EU Rules…writes Stephen Pope.“The EU needs to wake up and realise…
A strong EU can do nothing but drain the freedom and sovereignty from the nation states.
Money comes with strings attached. EU needs less money and less Eurocrats, so they can focus on a few important things.
