Denmark becomes the first EU nation to tell Syrians they must return home, saying the country is now safe…but they will not be forced to leave. 🤔🙄
Interesting, lots of moving parts here, and it’s not perfect, but Denmark, surprisingly, could set a future precedent for other European nation-states to follow.
1. Like it or not, the European nation-states must embrace reality. Bashar al-Assad is the clear winner in Syria and nation-states must be prepared to work with his government to return the Syrians.
The V4 Report has a hard time understanding the EU’s mentality, especially when they continue to coddle one of the main extremists (Erdogan) behind the destabilization of Syria and the flooding of Europe.
While Assad is certainly not an angel, would the EU prefer an Erdogan-inspired Muslim Brotherhood government in Syria with the support of Islamic Sunni Jihadists? Do they not see the fanatical mentality of the opposition in Syria and the “home-grown” Jihadists (who traveled to Syria to fight) returning to Europe?
2. No forced deportations? The V4 Report doubts the migrants will return on their own, but the Danish government has a different strategy.
Basically, the government believes by stripping the Syrians of their residency permits that the migrants will have no other option but to return. In other words, eliminate the welcoming culture and benefits that attract the illegals.
Mattias Tesfaye, Denmark’s immigration minister, that the country had been ‘open and honest from the start’ with refugees coming from Syria.
“We have made it clear to the Syrian refugees that their residence permit is temporary. It can be withdrawn if protection is no longer needed,” he said.
“We must give people protection for as long as it is needed. But when conditions in the home country improve, a former refugee should return home and re-establish a life there,” he added.’
Denmark’s ruling centre-Left Social Democratic Party has taken a fierce anti-immigration stance and PM Mette Frederiksen has promised to target ‘zero’ asylum seekers applying for residence in the country.
We shall see the results, but the V4 Report believes there is too much drama involved with deportations out of Europe. A truly free country that values its sovereignty has the natural right to make its own decisions regarding the deportation of non-citizens.
Certainly, the EU foreign policy buffoons do not add any value. Denmark and other European nation-states should work with the government of Syria to return the migrants.
