V4 Report: Croatia 🇭🇷: HDZ Split over Istanbul Convention Ratification, as cultural Marxists want to push “gender theory” concepts in schools. This opposition to the extreme agenda of the IC could lead to the downfall of PM Plenkovic, who may become the “Donald Tusk” of Croatia.
According to @LeMaitreHorvat at Twitter, a bitter internal battle has erupted within the HDZ between the pro-Brussels cabal lead by PM Plenkovic and the conservative Catholic wing led by former Minister of Foreign affairs Davor Ivo Stier.
Plenkovic is a mere puppet of the EU and wants to ratify the Istanbul convention as demanded by Brussels. Stier and the conservatives are adamantly opposed. Stier, like President Grabar-Kitarovic, is also pro Poland 🇵🇱.
Plenkovic is an Elmar Brok “guy” at the European People’s Party (EPP), which is becoming more and more of a tool of Brussels. They are “pretenders”, just like the CSU in Germany, where Manfred Weber and Horst Seehofer enable Merkel to remain in power in order to keep their own seats of power. Likewise, the leaders of the EPP (this is Jean-Claude Juncker’s group) work to expand the scope and power of Brussels for their own benefit. Manfred Weber needs exposed….he is a major problem in Brussels and is ardently hostile towards Poland.
** The main dispute is not about the term “gender” but rather about the disassociation of “gender” from nature and “sex,” and pushing for “gender identity” as a concept that need not necessarily correspond to biologically determined sex, says Stier.
“The problem is that theories that go against natural law are to be introduced in schools,” warns Stier.
Christian Democrats in Croatia advocate for the respect of dignity of women and girls and absolutely support the fight against violence, however, they do not accept the postulate of “gender theory” on which the Istanbul Convention lies, Stier says in his letter.
“There are two approaches to this issue – the Christian (or classical, considering that it is not exclusive to Christianity) and the ideological (liberal or socialist) – and they are substantially different and that is the crux of the dispute over the Istanbul Convention rather than whether someone is for or against the fight against violence,” says Stier.
HDZ vice president Milijan Brkić also has reservations about the Convention. “The HDZ is a people’s party, a centre-right party with a Christian Democratic worldview, and the HDZ must nurture traditional values, those which are in (its) programme and statute,” he said ahead of the session. He said nobody in politics was against quality protection from violence and that all sanctions should be made rigorous to protect victims of violence, notably women. As for gender, he said it was defined by birth and biology and not social habits.
Another HDZ vice president, member of the European Parliament Ivana Maletić, said she was not entirely against the Istanbul Convention, “but I am against it to a great extent.” She said she wondered why the document had an entirely different definition of gender than the internationally recognised definition, which is identical to sex.
*** We think it’s time for Croatia to move on from Plenkovic – the Donald Tusk of Croatia – who desires a position of power in Brussels. Plenkovic’s future ambitions should not be allowed to hold Croatia hostage to the demands of Brussels. Plenkovic is also accepting EU migrants from Greece.
