V4 Report: EU Minister Federica Maria Mogherini attacks Hungary 🇭🇺 over opposition to “UN Global Compact for safe, regular and orderly migration and UN Global Compact on refugees”.
** Where are the other nations in Visegrad and Central Europe? The US has already backed out and will not consult the UN regarding the internal migration policies of America. This isn’t the first time Viktor Orban and Hungary initiated a challenge to the “Group Think” of Brussels (Merkel 2015). We expect others will follow soon.
Mogherini said 👉 “….For the past 18 months, the European Union has established strong leadership in the process, thanks also to the partnerships we have developed in these years. Now with the withdrawal of the United States from the Compacts back in December, the Compacts need more than ever a strong and united Europe.
Let me say that I regret that one of our Member States has recently presented a position that is not in line with the position of the 27 other Member States. Here our common work, and your contribution as Parliament will be essential: because together we can push towards inclusive and balanced Compacts, to improve the lives of millions of people, to address the concerns of the European citizens and to turn migration from a common challenge into a shared opportunity for human development”. 👈
*** Mogherini is demanding an official EU position in regards to this Compact from all 28 of its members. However, this is impossible since Hungary does not agree. Is Mogherini assuming the other 27 members agree with this multicult manifesto or is she targeting Hungary because it presented an alternative position at odds with Brussels?
We do not know the details yet, but hopefully Mogherini is mistaken…..for this “UN solidarity” will come back to haunt all in the future, just like past UN conventions.
The 2018 UN Declaration for Refugees and Migrants must be defeated and defied. The UN is seeking to establish a global mechanism to cover “all dimensions of international migration in a holistic and comprehensive manner”.
The global compact for migration will be the first, intergovernmentally negotiated agreement, prepared under the auspices of the United Nations, to cover all dimensions of international migration in a holistic and comprehensive manner.
In the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants, adopted in September 2016, the General Assembly decided to develop a global compact for “safe, orderly and regular migration”.
**** The V4 Report will repost several of our past articles regarding this issue, including Hungary’s recommendations to the UN that drew the outcry from Mogherini.
FYI: It is interesting to note the different backgrounds in which Mogherini and Orban came from. Mogherini was a member of the Italian Communist Youth Federation, upon joining in 1988. In 1996, Mogherini joined the Youth Left after the dissolution of the Italian Communist Party and its transformation into a Social Democratic Party.
During Mogherini’s association with the Communist Party, PM Viktor Orban was demanding the withdrawal of communist troops from Hungary.
