Kurz shooting his own eyes out and undermining his own cause. They will come after Austria next.

The V4 Report sensed something was wrong with Kurz when he failed to defend the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) and Italy’s Matteo Salvini in an interview with Der Spiegel a few days ago (Please see our post from Sunday). We gave him the benefit of the doubt then but today’s action has crossed the line. We are surprised and thought Kurz would be stronger.

Kurz is shooting his own eyes out by standing in solidarity with Green Party radical Judith Sargentini and other leftist extremists to punish Hungary. He will regret this politically correct stunt in an effort to please his EPP bosses. We thought Kurz was different, but apparently the OVP has not changed.

Kurz even slandered Poland and Slovakia, appearing to suggest that other CEE countries should also face an Article 7 procedure.

“It is … not only necessary to take a closer look at Hungary but also when we look at the situation in Poland, in Hungary, in Romania, in Slovakia, where there was recently a murder of a journalist, there too it is necessary to look very closely,” he said.

However, without Hungary, the FPO, Poland or Salvini, Kurz will become irrelevant and just another typical OVP politician that will eventually find himself crushed under pressure from Berlin and Brussels.

Kurz is not strong enough on his own and will regret his recent attempts to appease the EU media and leadership in Berlin. This type of groveling never works out well. One remembers what happened to Austria in 2015 when it last bowed to pressure from Germany. The OVP was in power then too.

We will have more on this later…but we were warned about Kurz by many (especially Ralf in spring 2017) in Austria. One thing is for sure: Orban must exit the fake conservative fraternity of EPP and move on to form a new alliance with Poland, Salvini and others in CEE who are more genuine and serious about defending Europe.

Let Sebastian Kurz play in the EPP sandbox with Angela Merkel and Andrej Plenkovic. In the end, Germany will kick sand in his face…again.
