Is Czechia PM Andrej Babis credible or just another pretender?
PM Andrej Babis of the Czech Republic (Czechia) says some very good things regarding migration and the need to defend the sovereignty of the European nation state.
The V4 Report believes that – as long as he is associated with multicult zealot and super-federalist Guy Verhofstadt at ALDE – Babis will lack the credibility and trust to be taken seriously.
His words do not match his actions. At the EU level, one cannot support ALDE/Verhofstadt while claiming to defend the external borders while protecting the Czech Republic from migrant quotas and an ever-expanding superstate in Brussels.
To come clean, Babis will have to repudiated Verhofstadt and walk away from the ALDE Group, which is not a match for the culture of Central Europe.
Until then, he is just another opportunist looking to say the right things to secure votes on a national level.
– On his way to attend the summit in Sibiu, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš outlined the Czech government’s vision of how the EU needs to reform, beginning with strong criticism of the internal workings of the alliance.
“The Czech Republic wants an alliance of strong EU member states. It should be the European Council, represented by the presidents and prime ministers of member states, that should set the course and decide on matters of importance. The European Commission is there to oversee that agreements are respected, but it cannot be a political body that often acts as if it is above the individual member states themselves.”
* How can Babiš say this while the party he is associated with in Brussels has the opposite agenda?
