Italy: Lampedusa mayor warns of uptick in illegal migrant arrivals from Libya.
Why does he sound surprised? If one sets the precedent of granting entry, of course, more will be in the way.
“Here on Lampedusa, we are concerned. The Libyan route is increasingly more active and I don’t know what will happen when sea conditions become even more favorable for sailing.”
He is “concerned”? Well, who is luring the illegals by granting entry? Unlike closing the ports, being concerned does not solve the problem.
He called on PM Super Mario Draghi to “dedicate the maximum attention to the many aspects concerning migration,” arguing that “there needs to be political action and planned management,” not only in Italy but also in Europe.
There go the EU slogans again regarding “managing migration” and an EU solution…which means Italy alone will decide who enters its country, but then demands that others (who wanted the borders closed) share their self-inflicted burden.
The EU migration reform is on its way and the relocations will be endless.
