Orban says would have to ‘use force’ if Turkey ‘opens gates’ to migrants.
How else does one defend its territory from an opposing force of aggressive male migrants trying to break through? One either does what is necessary to prevent entry…or ends up held hostage by the actions of others.
The problem is not Orban, but those who see this as some type of radical approach. There is nothing extreme about this statement; quite frankly, this is a normal reaction from a serious leader with a firm grasp of reality.
Self-defense is a natural reaction that usually requires some type of force against an aggressor. To surrender one’s border without a fight – like some EU leaders – is highly abnormal and reckless.
Unlike the leaders of Sweden, Viktor Orban will not just meekly rollover to allow the masses to control events in Hungary. This is why Hungarians clearly chose Orban to lead their country. Any two-bit Major (Budapest) can ride a bike to work for show, but few have the courage to take action to defend one’s country like Orban.
The game has changed and it’s now a post-UN world…”Push-backs” are the new reality. Brussels and the Council of Europe will just have to get used to it.
– Hungary would “use force” at its southern border with Serbia to protect the European Union’s frontier if Turkey follows through on its threat to open the gates to Europe to refugees, Hungary’s Viktor Orban said.
“The next weeks will decide what Turkey does with these people,” Orban told private broadcaster HirTV in an interview late on Wednesday. “It can steer them in two directions: take them back to Syria or set them off towards Europe.”
“If Turkey chooses the latter, these people will arrive at Hungary’s southern border in huge masses,” Orban said, adding that the EU should provide more funds to Turkey to help rebuild Syrian towns.
“If Turkey sets off further hundreds of thousands on top of this, then we will need to use force to protect the Hungarian border and the Serbian-Hungarian frontier and I do not wish for anyone that we should need to resort to that,” he said.
* We may disagree with Orban regarding Turkey (The V4 Report agrees with Austria that the accession talks with Turkey should end…but this was our position well before Erdogan’s recent actions), but Orban’s main focus is to protect Hungary by defending its border at all costs.
This is why we admire Orban. Compare his strong statements of action to Angela Merkel’s weak plea to Erdogan for cooperation.
Chancellor Angela Merkel: “In recent days I have strongly urged Turkey to end its military operation against the Kurdish military and I’m stressing that again now,” Merkel told Germany’s lower house of parliament.
“It’s a humanitarian drama with huge geopolitical effects so Germany will not deliver any weapons to Turkey under the current conditions,” she added.
Fair enough, but how will this stop the migrants from storming Europe?
What is Merkel’s Plan B if Erdogan ignores her and floods Europe again? More lectures? More EU solidarity? Speeding up asylum claims in Greece for relocation? More Frontex? 😂
What is she and the PM of Greece doing to prepare for this “crisis” by actively sealing the external borders…or are they foolishly relying on Erdogan to defend Europe?
Unlike Orban, Brussels, the government of Greece and EU leaders are not prepared or up for the task. One has to wonder if they are not more concerned with preventing Matteo Salvini from returning to power as opposed to actually defending Europe. 🧐😒
