Some Reuters propaganda on Visegrad and President ‘Wonder Woman’ of Slovakia, Zuzana Caputova.
“Slovakia’s new president called on the Visegrad group of eastern EU member states (try Central European nation states) to protect the rule of law to avoid being seen as “weakening the European Union”, signaling a possible rift within a bloc that often acts together.
A possible rift? She does not carry the weight to cause “a rift” within the V4. Slovakia’s past president (Kiska) was also well-known for his opposition within the V4 group, especially regarding his views on migration. There is not much difference between the two.
Slovak President Zuzana Caputova said cooperation in the Visegrad group comprising Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic should be based on “common values”.
Well it already is; at this point, Caputova is speaking about her own multicult, liberal “values”, which are out of the mainstream in Visegrad. Does she expect others to just bow down to her wishes?
Guy Verhofstadt may adore Caputova, but this should not give her “delusions of grandeur”; she was elected on an anti-corruption platform in Slovakia, not as a mandate to remake Visegrad in her own image.
After all, Slovakia is not France or Belgium. Slovakia rejected the UN Migration Pact, the Istanbul Convention and the forced EU migrant quotas. There is no great desire to follow the path of France and the West EU Core.
