An interesting debate in the UK.
This sounds good but is this just more talk? We hope not but…
Border Force experiments using nets to disable rafts carrying illegals from France.
The government claims that illegals attempting to enter the UK will be turned back in their boats by Border Force officials under new Australian-style powers to deter people-smuggling.
Yet, there are disagreements between the Home Office and France about the potential risks involved and both sides have yet to agree on an appropriate approach.
Wait a second 🙌. If France refuses to take back their migrants, then why does the UK need their approval to turn back the boats and to deny entry?
– Under Ms. Patel’s sweeping immigration reforms, countries that refuse to take back failed asylum seekers and criminals could be hit hard by a visa ban.
The move is aimed at reversing the UK’s failure to deport illegal entrants and criminals.
Countries understood to be unwilling to cooperate with Britain are Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Eritrea, and the Philippines.
But we do not think this alone will be enough. All foreign aid must also be linked to a country’s willingness to take back its citizens without delays or red tape.
We will see how this plays out. We do believe the UK will make a strong effort but this does not guarantee success unless one is willing to play hardball and ignore empty threats from the UN and the so-called international community, both of which could care less about the security of the UK.
But, a good place to start is by exiting the Council of Europe and the jurisdiction of its ECHR Court.
Why not? The COE is a relic of the past and offers no positive benefits….just migraine headaches.
