Yes, all three feed off one another (money 👉 power 👉 control). A larger EU budget can only signify that Brussels will expand its scope.

Where does it end? Maybe it doesn’t. Brussels wants to introduce new taxes to create a stream of fresh revenues (they call it the EU’s ‘own funding’ 😂) in order to expand its scope. More money can only mean “more EU”. Whatever happened to “less EU” and more sovereignty to the nation states?

– “If we do not allocate enough money to climate goals, we will not be able to achieve them. I will not accept a budget that does not include at least 25 percent for climate change budget,” said Ursula von der Leyen. “There are Member States who advocate the current cohesion and agriculture policy. I expect them to be equally committed to the new priorities,” she added, referring to Friends of Cohesion, which brings together 15 countries advocating for cohesion policy funding to remain at certain levels in the next EU budget. (One wonders how many realize what great a failure von der Leyen was as Germany’s Minister of Defense? Now, she is leading the EU…how fitting. 🤨)

On the contrary, other Members called for a dose of reality and to accept the fact that the EU has less resources after Britain’s departure and that Member State governments are unwilling to pay higher contributions to the common budget. (This is where the EU’s ‘own funding’ steps in to keep expanding the leviathan in Brussels.)

* Like Juncker before her, von der Leyen will not admit that she is an EU federalist…but it’s hard to deny which direction she is pushing the EU.

In our opinion, despite the theatre, the fix is in. Brussels will declare that the EU is a great project that can fund and solve all the world’s problems, while not increasing contributions from the member states because it will now produce its ‘own funding’.
