Interesting…let’s keep a count. The over-under is 2%. Another deal? But at least it sounds good on paper. 😉
Morocco, France reach a deal to ease the return of underage migrants.
The agreement mainly concerns so-called unaccompanied minors; it is estimated that between 16,000 and 40,000 are roaming France. That’s quite the broad range, which is a signal that France has no idea who has entered its country.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that a European country has negotiated with the Cherifian Kingdom for the return of underage migrants from its territory. Procedures initiated with Spain and Sweden previously have never been successful.
We wish France much success, but Macron is using this for election purposes, to act as if he is actually trying to do something, but we doubt it will amount to a few being sent back…but Macron (like Merkel) is betting that people forget to follow up on the actual results.
It’s all about the rhetoric designed to keep forces on the right at bay.
