This is what happens when one abandons principles for power. The deal with Brussels and the Left in Italy has destroyed the 5Star Movement…Sebastian Kurz in Austria may want to take a lesson.

1. Italy, Emilia-Romagna regional election:

With preliminary final results, PD (S&D) faced heavy losses and Lega (ID) significant gains compared to 2014 election. The centre-left alliance—led by PD—nevertheless managed to beat the centre-right—led by Lega—for regional presidency.

2. Italy, Calabria regional election: With 98,5% counted, the national-conservative FdI (ECR) reaches best ever result in a regional election: 10.8%. Five Star Movement (M5s-NI) won the National (2018: 43.4%) and European (2019: 26.7%) elections in Calabria, but is currently in a free fall.

Provisional final result (98.5% counted):

CDX-EPP|ECR|ID: 57.3% (+25.0)
CSX-S&D: 29.2% (-32.5)
M5S-NI: 7.3% (+2.4)
TP-*: 6.2% (new)

** Split results in Italy but no doubt that if national elections were held today, Salvini, Meloni & Forza would clean house, especially with 5Star melting down. It is the kiss of death to make a deal with Brussels and to partner with the establishment Left in Italy. Sebastian Kurz in Austria will eventually get burned too.

The 5Star is in a free fall, melting down to irrelevancy. This is what happens when one sells out to Brussels and the left-wing establishment party.
