Lithuania’s interior minister accuses Belarus of letting illegals from Iraq cross into Lithuania.
We did not realize it was the task of Belarus to stop illegals from entering Lithuania or the EU.
Freedom is not a given but must be earned and protected. Not wise to rely on an outside regime (like Turkey or Belarus) to defend borders.
This reckless ‘EU fad’ of relying on foreign countries – whether it be Turkey, Morocco, or Belarus – to stop migration flows is insane. Nothing wrong with some secondary help with mutual respect but in no way should one rely primarily on outsiders to defend one’s border.
Bottom line: It’s time to ‘man-up at the border to deny entry or to push the illegals back once discovered.
Forget EU protocol, it’s the kiss of death.
Why do so many EU states desire to outsource their border defense? Think about this madness and the vulnerabilities associated with it.
It’s as bad as relying on “voluntary” returns or Frontex clerks.
