Matteo Salvini and leaders of the Freedom Party of Austria are on target to end the practice of “migrant roaming” in Europe with solutions to return migrants to Africa before granting entry.

On the other hand, Angela Merkel, Dimitris Avramopoulos and Jean-Claude Juncker continue to waste time with Frontex and stealth efforts to commit EU to mass migration by turning illegal migration into legal migration.

Merkel and EU clerks in Brussels have lost all credibility on migration. Mainstream Europeans have heard the rhetoric from Berlin and Brussels for the last three years and no longer believe they represent the best interests of Europe. It’s time to move on.

Salvini of Italy and Austria’s Herbert Kickl of the Freedom Party (FPO) proposed an alternative system to help return migrants to Africa, instead of first granting entry to Europe after a so-called “rescue”.

In a prior post from the V4 Report, we pointed out that there is no legal obligation to grant entry after migrants are “rescued” and taken to a port. They must be provided with a place of safety, which could mean a ship or a safe port in Africa, such as Tunisia or Egypt….which are the most logical solutions.

“For those who manage to make it into a European state’s territorial waters and are then picked up by a ship, we should use the ships to carry out the appropriate checks on whether they deserve protection,” Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl told a joint news conference in Vienna with Salvini.

“You are well looked after on a ship,” Kickl said at a migration conference he hosted, adding that after a screening that “should last a few days” those with no chance of asylum should be denied access to Europe.

Salvini agreed: “I’m absolutely in favour. In fact, I was saying how ironic it was that having held a group of immigrants on a ship in an Italian port for 10 days, an Italian judge placed me under investigation for kidnapping,” said Salvini, who is also deputy prime minister and heads the League party.

Kickl is an extremely talented interior minister and we love his accurate definition of the illegal trafficking in the Mediterranean that some call “rescues”. The member of the FPO will be needed to keep Sebastian Kurz from wavering.

Kickl wants an alternative to the counterproductive EU proposal for “regional disembarkation platforms” at Mediterranean ports from where arrivals would be spread around the EU.

The V4 Report strongly warned against these migrant processing centers in Europe, believing these centers will turn into just another method for Brussels to commit the EU to mass migration.
