Matteo Salvini takes out Aquarius 2: Panama revokes registration of last migrant transfer ship in central Mediterranean.
Who needs Frontex, Brussels and Dimitris Avramopoulos (a big advocate of working with the NGOs) interfering with the efforts of Matteo Salvini, Viktor Orban and the European nation states?
– Matteo Salvini of Italy was ecstatic and said that Aquarius 2 had hindered the work of the Libyan coast guard, ignoring instructions.
Salvini said Aquarius 2 was about to have its registration revoked by Panama because it was “illegal and does not respect procedures”.
“They can change their name and flag another thousand times but Italy’s ports will remain shut to these gentlemen,” he said.
This action taken against the migrant transfer vessel (Aquarius 2) means that there will be no NGO ships off the Libyan coast in the near future unless the vessel can find a new flag to sail under.
Aquarius 2 is currently at sea with 58 illegal migrants on board. They must be denied entry to Europe and pulled-back to a port in Africa to send a strong message to the smugglers and migrants.
