One concerned about the EU expanding its powers and scope should also be very leery of increasing its budget. Money, power and control all feed off one another.

Be careful that a ‘good budget’ does not turn into a ‘bloated budget’ that will only expand the scope and powers of Brussels.

The worst possible outcome – beyond the debate over member contributions – would be to enable Brussels to create their “own funding” (new taxes for Brussels above and beyond member state contributions) in the future. Imagine the corruption with this? One doesn’t want to let this evil genie out of the bottle.

We remain skeptical of increasing the EU budget, especially with the large shortfall created by Brexit. We would like to see a ‘Friends of the Nation State’ coalition formed to lobby for “less Brussels” and “more states of Europe”.

Is it really in the best interests of the European nation states to grow the budget of Brussels. We remain very leery of “more EU”; instead, today may offer a golden opportunity to downsize Brussels (feed it less money) in order to prioritize and focus on “added-value” priorities while eliminating or reducing the unnecessary and wasteful programs better left to the national parliaments of the nation state.

Morawiecki said, “We want Europe as a global player.” Yes, but one can hardly achieve this with a Socialist from Spain in charge of EU foreign policy or a feminist from Sweden designing a new EU-wide migration policy.

A budget can be great but if the leaders are of low quality, this will be of little help.

Both Poland and Europe can become “global players” without the heavy hands of Brussels or the odious EU Commission or Parliament meddling into every area and aspect of the nation states of Europe.

Europe will not fall without the guidance of Michael Barnier and the Eurocrats in Brussels…or Vera Jourova defining the values of the EU…nor can it reach its full potential while dominated by Germany, France and the West EU bloc under this so-called EU project.

Yes, fight for what is important, but be very leery of handing Brussels a blank check…the demands will keep increasing.
