* Romania: The Romanian Coast Guard announced last weekend that some 200 migrants from Iran and Iraq had arrived by boat.

** The EU’s border agency, Frontex, said on Tuesday that the recent arrivals are likely part of a broader effort by smugglers to see if they can start sending people towards Romania instead of the Greek islands.

“It is a bit early to talk about the route reopening, but it could be that the smugglers are testing how it works – that is a possibility,” said a spokeswoman from the agency.

*** The V4 Report posted about the new Black Sea route several weeks ago. We believe it’s more than a “test” and strongly disagree with the lack of urgency exhibited by Frontex. Why are they waiting to take strong action before another emergency emerges? We believe the route needs full attention immediately.

Once the smugglers are encouraged with small successes, they will increase their activity and the wave of migrants will continue to build and gain strength. Romania and Frontex must send a clear message now (see Australia for an example) by denying entry from the start. Illegal migration must not be tolerated and the only way to achieve success is by sealing the border by “whatever means necessary”. In the end, this “no tolerance” approach will quickly discourage the smugglers and prevent the nightmares we have seen in Greece and Italy.

Will the EU ever learn from their past mistakes? Do they even want to? Their lack of resolve, strength and will are quite revealing.

**** We also found the numbers from the EU-Turkey Deal alarming. Once again, Angela Merkel and the EU, while claiming piety, have deliberately misled many in Europe. The arrivals in Greece are rising again because the illegals are not being sent back as promised.

Only a paltry 1,900 migrants have been sent back to Turkey since the so-called “one-for-one” Syrian exchange was agreed to in the middle of 2016. However, the EU is celebrating the resettlement of 10,000 migrants from Turkey to Europe. The numbers do not add up. This is “5:1”, although Erdogan still enjoys the money.

Moreover, the “1:1” swap was only intended for Syrians. All non-Syrian “irregulars” were to be sent back to Turkey without a corresponding exchange. However, the far-left government of Greece is not fulfilling their European duty. In addition, the EU is abusing the numbers by including “non-Syrians” in the 1,900 figure. Very few Syrians have been sent back (a handful maybe), certainly not the 10,000 promised by Merkel’s Union in Brussels.

The deal was supposed to substantially increase the amount of migrants sent back to Turkey (all irregulars + 10,000 Syrians); after all, this is the reason the EU is showering Erdogan with vast amounts of euros. However, the deal is stuck in reverse and the traffic is one-way.

No wonder the tyrant of Turkey does not respect the European Union. Recep Erdogan must be laughing as we speak. First he flooded Europe with migrants, then he made the feeble leaders of Brussels pay him off.

Too bad. Hungary, Macedonia and others in CEE did most of the work and had substantially cut the migrant demand for Greece well before the Merkel-Erdogan Pact was signed…..and they did it for free.
