Slovakia FM rejects calls to relocate illegals granted entry by Italy. 👍
The EU Commission has asked member states to help relocate 1,400 illegal migrants who landed on Italy’s Lampedusa island in one weekend. Slovakia’s foreign minister Ivan Korcok tells FRANCE 24: “We are not in a position to say that we will relocate people because that’s simply the consensus within Slovakia […] instead we are offering other forms of solidarity”.
“We maintain our position that in the mid-and long-term perspective, the mandatory quota will not help, because it still represents a pull factor by which migrants are attracted to come here.”
Not only is it a pull factor but it’s also facilitating illegal migration. If the EU can broker relocation deals then this game will go on forever and the government of Italy will have little incentive to deport out of Europe.
Another 100+ illegals arrived on Lampedusa over the past day.
Relocation turns illegal migration into legal migration.
