* Slovakia: PM Robert Fico reverses his rhetoric of a few months ago and suddenly embraces the leadership of Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron. Fico’s new attitude seems to have been formed after his meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker at the end of June.

– Fico, an ex-communist repackaged as a “social democrat”, is facing issues at home over various alleged scandals in his government. Fico (along with Frans Timmermans) is also a member of the Party of European Socialists, who are known for their extreme positions regarding open-borders, multiculturalism and mass migration.

– Slovakia should be part of a deeply integrated ‘core’ European Union driven by Germany and France, Fico said on Tuesday, backtracking from his previous campaign stances that propelled him to his last election victory.

– Despite initially making common cause with other Visegrad states in refusing EU quotas on accepting migrants, Fico later and rather quietly made a “compromise” to accept 100 migrants from Greece and Italy. In return, Fico would become the “point man” for Brussels in Visegrad.

– Fico fails to realize that EU “core” status means accepting certain EU “chains”, such as participating in and accepting future migrant quotas from Brussels. Does Fico think there will be no more migrant relocation programs? Has he seen the Italian border or is he too focused on his own needs?

– Besides, EU “core” is a meaningless slogan. Germany relies upon exports and cannot afford any interruptions in trade. They have no other choice but to continue to trade with the Czechs and others in V4. Besides, German companies are making huge profits in the lands of Visegrad. Such examples can be found in places like Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic.

– Fico radically reversed his positions after his meeting in Brussels at the end of June. We do not know the details, but someone adjusted his attitude. We do believe he owes the people of Slovakia a new election to justify this new course, which was not what he campaigned on.

– At the end of 2016, we warned of the EU’s goal to break the unity of the V4 in an effort to isolate both Hungary and Poland. Obviously, their growing strength and influence is a concern for the power-obsessed socialists in Brussels. Today, many EU enthusiasts are claiming victory and the end to the unity of the V4.

Not so fast. Robert Fico is a small fish and a political opportunist who is not well-respected by his own people. Both the V4 and Slovakia are much more than Robert Fico. While Fico may have sold his soul for EU Gold, the people of Slovakia have no desire to embrace the multicult way of life of France and Germany. They see what “EU Solidarity” has done for Sweden.

Onward V4!
