This EU Commission was no victory…but a major step backwards.
Time to embrace reality instead of lowering the bar.
– The EU Commission declared that member states cannot reject asylum applications at their borders or close their borders to illegal migrants.
Ylva from Sweden – who Ursula von der Leyen chose as migration commissioner – stated that countries should not push back illegals from the border and that all asylum applications should be allowed to take place within the territory of the EU.
* This is a surrender but nothing new. EU is not changing and neither is the EPP.
What did the EU Summit last summer produce to celebrate? Salvini was blackballed by the Establishment Coalition (EPP, federalists and socialists) but Ylva from Sweden showed up as a bonus…in charge of migration! And who opposed her? She sailed right through as if she was mainstream.
This the blowback to negotiating and working with the EU establishment. It never works and there is no victory down this path…only a slow death.
Jansa (Slovenia) and Orban (Hungary) are the only quality assets left in the EPP and will have to leave to battle with the national conservatives of the ECR Group.
They are wasting their time inside of Tusk’s party. When one starts counting on Vucic (Serbia) to help carry the torch, its time to move on.
** Don’t look to Roberta Metsola (EPP) of Malta for guidance on migration reform either. (V4 Report ahead of the game; we know what’s next).
