Somali pirates, who were seized eight years ago by the German container ship MV Taipan, live in peace in Germany with their families. They drain the social system and cannot be expelled, wrote the daily Bild on Tuesday.

– The story began on Easter Monday, April 5, 2010, when MV Taipan boarded a ship in which a group of ten armed “pirates” had seized. After a few hours, the fifteen-man crew freed the Dutch commando from the Tromp frigate, which the pirates seized and handed over to Germany.

The lightning strike helped the crew to send an emergency signal during the strike, and also managed to shut down the boat engines, which prevented the pirates from sailing into the Somali port.

In October 2012, the Land Court in Hamburg sentenced the criminals to 2-7 years in prison. However, since 2015, they all have been freed. Some served their punishments, while others were released conditionally.

Four returned to Somalia, one left for Sweden, and five remained in Hamburg. The five pirates applied for asylum in Germany and now live off the German social system, which pays them a lot of money, writes Bild.

Although their asylum claims were rejected, none of the “pirates” have been deported. Two pirates live in a dormitory, while three others live in private quarters.

One of the men receives 1000 euros a month from the state (about 25 thousand crowns) and has free health insurance. Those with families get even more money from the system. For example, the state is paying for a nursery.

“We are now examining the right of residence for two people who have family members,” a spokeswoman for the immigration office said. Apparently, it does not matter that they are “pirates”, says Bild.

The Somali embassy in Germany is not, according to Hamburg, able to issue passports to the men (how convenient) and they remain in the city, living off the generous German social system.

*** The situation is so pathetic and abnormal that we find it difficult to even comment on it. Even Somali “pirates” are able to abuse the German state.

The leaders of Germany remain “on their knees”.
