The provocative use of the historically inaccurate term “Polish Holocaust” in the video was seen as hugely offensive to the people of Poland. It should be offensive to all and revealed the bitter hatred of some towards Poland.
This was a despicable and cowardly video. Moreover, the Ruderman Family’s statement regarding the withdrawal of the video was pathetically lame, condescending, insincere and tried to shamelessly direct the blame onto the people of Poland:
The Ruderman Family Foundation released a statement saying that “after a hugely successful campaign that went viral internationally and among American Jews and Israelis who have signed the petition – the Foundation was contacted by the Polish Jewish community and because of their concerns for their safety, we decided to halt the campaign.”
In our opinion, they did not decide (since they seemed to relish the video) but were likely pressured by the Israeli government to withdraw the video. We believe the video was extremely damaging and embarrassing to the government of Israel, which is seeking to meet with the Visegrad Group.
** Perhaps this foundation can get away with such outrageous slander in the United States, but the leaders of Poland, such as Dominick Tarczynski (pictured below), refuse to be intimidated into silence and will courageously defend their nation and the truth when unjustly attacked.
Michal Dworczyk, an aide to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, described the video as an affront to the thousands of Poles who risked their lives during the war to help Jews.
Polish state television’s all-news channel TVP Info reported it as the top story on its website, calling the video “shocking.”
Witold Jurasz, a journalist with the private Polsat broadcaster, called the video “offensive and scandalous,” and said it “spits in the face of every Pole.”
*** The private Ruderman Family Foundation also launched a campaign calling for the United States to sever its ties with Poland, an ally in NATO where the U.S. has recently deployed troops.
Although the US Senate is deeply intimidated by the Israeli Lobby, we see little chance of this happening. There is a strong Polish community in America and despite the constant smears and propaganda from the US media, many Americans deeply admire the courageous history of Poland, their independent thought, their values and their willingness to challenge the arrogant demands of Angela Merkel and Brussels.
We have seen this type of intimidation before, designed to silence others from speaking. There are many others, besides this foundation, who wish to see Poland ostracized and isolated. This will not happen. Poland is an emerging economic and political force and they are here to stay. Others will just have to get used to a strong, just and confident Poland.
