Why do smugglers continue to operate all over Europe? One reason of many…while the rewards are high, the punishments are light.
Smugglers have simply concluded that the feeble punishments are worth the risk of high rewards.
This is unacceptable; if Europe is to be taken seriously, they must deliver severe punishments to send a thundering message of “intolerance” to other smugglers, while also deflating the migrant demand by swiftly deporting all illegals who enter the EU with the help of smugglers. It sounds tough, but it’s also based on reality; immediate deportations – without the reward of staying in Europe – would quickly drain the hopes of many future migrants.
– Human trafficker Shwana Rafiq, an Iraqi living in Spain, has been jailed for ONLY four years after “his gang” brought hundreds of migrants into Britain last year for up to £8,500 each. Rafiq was the head of this “gang” smuggling Kurds to the UK in refrigerated lorries.
This is simply a joke and not nearly harsh enough to stop other smugglers.
However, it gets worse. His Spanish wife Esperanza Martinez, who was facing a prison sentence of up to 12 years before she admitted to being his accomplice (no kidding), was handed just a two-year jail term for human trafficking which will be suspended as she is a first-time offender.
This is not a punishment. What type of message is being sent here?
Five other people linked to the smuggling organisation were given prison sentences ranging from six months to a year set to be suspended at a later date because they all have clean records in Spain.
Clean records? What is this nonsense? They put all in Europe at risk by engaging in human trafficking.
There are some things that simply cannot be tolerated; however, Western Europe has chosen “to turn the other cheek”…which is exactly why it will continue to be abused while it remains on its knees.
